Tucked out of the way in a quiet cobbled square, this five-star cottage and its sister property, Shire Cottage, enjoy a fantastic location in Knaresborough town centre. A Grade II listed converted stable, the cottage has been beautifully updated to create a stylish property boasting a wonderful two-person sauna.

Guests love returning to this pretty cottage at the end of a busy day and firing up the private sauna which can be found in the en-suite wet room to the property’s ground-floor king-size bedroom. We stayed as part of a group booking taking over the adjacent Shire Cottage as both have their own lockable/interconnecting door and this also gave us exclusive use of the courtyard and private parking facilities. The cottage has been lovingly refurbished from its original stables layout by the owners to what is a very high and refined standard. OnRead morely the best materials and furnishings have been used so it really feels like a luxury home-from-home and is just a 5-minute walk from the compact town centre, should you be coming via train it's also only a 5-minute stroll from the nearby station. There is plenty of private parking (accessed by the covered archway and electric gates) directly off the road junction but as the cottages are set back quite a way (with buildings between) there is no problem with road noise. We had a fantastic double bedroom with large en-suite bathroom and a very comfy king size bed, top quality furnishings throughout and the kitchen has a super-sized fridge/freezer and oven/hob, so its great for a family meal or full English breakfast, with a large dishwasher. The guestbook has many entries, all of which praise the quality and location that is perfect if you want to explore Knaresborough and the surrounding area. In the adjoining cottage there is a hot tub which again is not your run-of-the-mill basic job, it's a luxury full four seater in its own wet-room with private shower facilities - a real bonus after a hard day exploring the town. The owners were very friendly and they made sure we wanted for nothing during our stay (soft/fluffy towels provided in abundance), this really is a top quality cottage in a brilliant location for everything Knaresborough'ish I'd happily recommend either (or both) cottages to anyone looking for that special break in this lovely compact Yorkshire market town. Dray and Shire Cottages provide excellent, flexible accommodation right in the heart of Knaresborough. Both cottages are exceptionally well equipped with absolutely everything you could ever need. The owners were extremely obliging and were happy to configure the bedrooms exactly as we needed. The cottages are located at the end of the High Street Read moreso staying here ensures that shops, pubs, restaurants etc. are literally on the doorstep. I can highly recommend both cottages especially for a large family group. Hide

We had a great week here with our young daughter. The cottage is beautiful, an unusual layout which has been thoughtfully designed and furnished to a very high standard. It is exceptionally comfortable and relaxing with everything you could need and more. The beds are so comfortable and the infrared sauna is an added bonus. There are lots of extrasRead more included such as towels, shower gel and shampoo provided, milk and tea / coffee supplies for unpacking, beautiful flowers and a lovely bottle of wine and cake! The owners are very nice people who communicate pleasantly right from booking and are on hand with any questions you have while you're there. Ron, the red setter was an occasional visitor to our cottage, much to our daughters delight! There is secure parking in a lovely courtyard, where you can also sit with a drink and enjoy the sun, if you're lucky enough - we only managed one evening! Knaresborough itself is a lovely place with many good places to eat, drink and visit. York and Harrogate are both around 30 mins away and very easily accessible by public transport. We all thoroughly enjoyed our week here and felt very relaxed (and quite sad) when it came time to leave Hide

Harrogate is a thriving, historic town at the heart of North Yorkshire and at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This fantastic town is a hit with culturists, historians and holidaymakers alike. Dubbed ‘The English Spa’ in 1596, the town boasts spa water high in iron, sulphur and salt. The Royal Pump Room is still open today as a museum, showcasing the original equipment that was used in its heyday. Two other major draws to the town are the Harrogate Convention Centre and the Great Yorkshire Showground. The former is a multi-purpose venue large enough to house huge conventions and business conferences. Many of the events are fan-based like the Lego-themed attractions and comic-cons. The latter is an outdoor venue that hosts even large events and shows, namely the agricultural Great Yorkshire Show.

Fancy a day of walking? Head to the Valley Gardens, home to a multitude of landscaped gardens that embrace different styles and influence. For further horticultural foray, head to the RHS Garden, Harlow Carr. The stunning gardens provide a leafy retreat where you can wander through woodland and alongside waterways.

The town centre is home to an array of boutique fashion shops, as well as high street favourites in and around the Victoria Shopping Centre. The Montpellier Quarter also offers exclusive shops and a huge range of antique dealers, ideal for hunting out a unique bargain. This fashionable spa town also plays host to many Michelin-starred restaurants too.

There is a host of places to visit and spend time at in and around Harrogate. We have a selection of holiday homes that include chic apartments, elegant townhouses and cosy cottages for romantic stays to inspire your break in Harrogate. Why not visit our collection to find your perfect property?
