Taste of North Yorkshire

06 June 2018

The rolling hills of Yorkshire, are simply gorgeous but they stay so green as we aren't adverse to the odd shower, so if it does rain whilst you visiting (or even on a nice day) simply hop in the car and take a whistle stop tour of Yorkshires' finest towns and sights.

Otley

From Harrogate take the scenic Otley Road, to the market town of Otley a quaint market town famous for it's pork pies at Weegmans butchers - this is also a great place to stock up on well butchered meat and grab some fruit and vegtables at the market in quaint cobbled square. For a coffee break or a superb lunch stop head towards the fabulous independent Italian Restaurant - Buon Apps located in an old mill building right on the edge of the River Wharfe - you will not be disappointed!

Ilkley

A short drive from Otley, take the road upto the world famous Ilkely Moor, you can park near the famous Cow and Calf Rocks and a short hike will reward you with spectacular views over the Wharfe Valley. For a proper Yorkshire pudding and pint, head to The Cow and Calf Pub  then down into the beautiful town of Ilkley for a spot of shopping or a cuppa at Betty's. Ilkley really is worth a visit.

Bolton Abbey

Following the road out of Ilkley towards Skipton look out for signs to Bolton Abbey, an ruined priory, set against a stunning backdop of Yorkshire countryside, there are walks, tea rooms, stepping stones, picnic spots - you could happily spend a day here and it works well for groups of all ages. (Please note there isn't and entrance fee but there is a parking fee of around £10).

From Bolton Abbey you could happily progress onto Skipton, again an attractive market town with the added attraction of a castle which it set at the end of the high street! Or meader your way home back to your Harrogate Holiday base!
