Tour de Yorkshire - A Guide

The Tour de Yorkshire - The 2018 dates have now been announced as 5th & 6th May 2018!

Not only did the arrival of the 2014 Tour de France Grand Depart in Yorkshire succeed in turning the entire county yellow, festooned in bunting, jerseys, art installations, bikes, flags, sheep (yes – yellow sheep!) and lots more, it created a fantastic legacy for the county’s towns!

The Tour de Yorkshire was borne out of Yorkshire folk’s enthusiasm to take competitive road cycling to their heart, plus thrilling picturesque terrain providing fantastic climbing and sprint opportunities for competitors and spectators alike.

The Tour de Yorkshire has grown rapidly since its inception in 2015 to become one of the major road races in the UK, attracting upwards of 2 million roadside spectators each year.  The race runs over three day stages, passing many iconic Yorkshire buildings and landscapes. For the 2017 event, the three stages were:

Stage 1 – Bridlington to Scarborough

Stage 2 – Tadcaster to Harrogate – includes the Asda Women’s Race

Stage 3 – Bradford to Sheffield – includes the Maserati sponsored Sportive open to amateur entrants

The 2018 stages are yet to be announced but watch this space...
