This beautiful cottage rests in the quiet village of Osgoodby, in easy reach of Thirsk, making a tranquil base for your romantic getaway to North Yorkshire.

The Garden Cottage sits in its own walled garden in a tiny hamlet on the fringe of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The idyllic location provides total peace and tranquility yet is only 4 miles from Thirsk and 20 miles from York. Thirsk has a bustling market twice a week and a monthly livestock market where you can see the local Yorkshire farmers buying and selling their livestock. If fine dining is something you enjoy, potter off to Tommy Banks’ renowned Michelin starred restaurant “The Black Swan”, only four miles away. If a cosy country pub is more your scene, where you can sit in front of roaring log fire in muddy wellies, or in a flower filled beer garden, the choice is endless! In fact North Yorkshire is known for its fabulous pubs and home produced food.If you fancy country walks, there is an vast choice of routes, both long and short, stopping off at pubs along the way or keep completely away from all signs of humanity and walk where you’re unlikely to see a soul. Situated just two miles from the Sutton Bank Visitor Centre where the new Dark Skies Observatory is set to be launched, providing a truly immersive star gazing experience. The cottage is a short drive from two glorious abbey ruins, Rievaulx and Byland and a further drive from the world heritage site of Fountains Abbey. If you fancy a day out at the seaside, the coast is an easy day trip away, from the charming seaside town of Filey, north up through to Whitby.

The cottage is approached through the garden, hence it's name. Follow the path through the beautifully kept and lovingly designed flower and vegetable beds. Step into the vestibule and hang your coat and head through into the cottage which is furnished with an eclectic mix of antique and artisan, stylish design-led pieces, which together create a truly relaxing, homely and fascinating place to stay. The lounge is a really cosy place with a wood burner and Smart TV, ideal for curling up to watch a movie. If reading a book in peaceful surroundings is what you are after then this is the perfect spot. Head through to the brand new for 2020 kitchen, superbly equipped with electric hob/double oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a bread maker. Gather at the breakfast table for mealtimes or head outside to dine in the gorgeous garden. There are two bedrooms to choose from; the "landscape room" with super king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into a twin upon request) or the "portrait room" with same super king-size-zip-and-link and en-suite shower room with WC. In the separate bathroom, relax in a hot bath after a long day exploring the Yorkshire countryside, feeling utterly relaxed and "away from it all".

The garden is a real feature of the cottage, with shrub and herbaceous borders and gorgeous sustainable teak dining furniture for al fresco meals. The typical cottage-garden style planting provides a mix of fruit, vegetables and flowers, with cherry trees, shrubs and bulbs, all topped off with a little alpine rock garden and some bonsai! It’s a true delight for those who enjoy a beautiful garden. Guests can enjoy the chance to collect eggs from our five friendly hens and are welcome to harvest and eat any of the vegetables that are ready during your stay at the cottage. If a quiet walk through a private wild flower meadow to a beautiful picnic spot is your kind of thing you’re welcome to wander around “Home Field”. Look out for hares and wild deer and in the evenings the owls and badgers whilst soaking up the spectacular views. There is off road parking available for two cars.

A lovely well equipped comfortable cottage in beautiful countryside. During our stay in late November we experienced Storm Arwen followed by snow and extremely cold weather. The cottage remained warm and cosy throughout and was a delight to return to after a day exploring the area.

Totally brilliant! Peace, tranquility, position etc. The welcoming basket of goodies, the warm bread in the breadmaker, the furnishings and general comfort guarantees a wonderfully restful holiday. Would we return, most certainly!

Lovely cottage, very comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. The welcome pack on arrival was very much appreciated as well as the loaf of bread baking in the bread maker which was a very nice touch.

An attractive cottage with high ceilings (pleasant surprise) in a very quiet location, exactly as shown in the photographs. It is spotlessly clean, very well equipped, maintained & full of character. We enjoyed lazy breakfasts in the pretty "kitchen garden" and picking salad & beans to have with dinner. The owners live next door and were very helpfRead moreul and attentive when needed. Really great cottage- both inside with its super new kitchen, and outside with a pretty and practical garden including produce to harvest! Also acres in the grounds to explore.

Very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and very well equipped house with a new kitchen (at the time of writing) and all new and good quality kitchen tools and appliances. It was more like staying in a good friend's house than a holiday rental. Pretty garden, but due to weather did not explore the lake area, will leave that to the next time.

The Garden Cottage is just wonderful. We particularly liked: -High quality furniture and equipment -Large, comfortable beds -Hamper of Yorkshire products -Picking veggies from the garden -Location between the Moors and the Dales -Considerate and welcoming hosts -Superb cleanliness and hand sanitizer provided. But to be honest, we liked everything.

Harrogate is a thriving, historic town at the heart of North Yorkshire and at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This fantastic town is a hit with culturists, historians and holidaymakers alike. Dubbed ‘The English Spa’ in 1596, the town boasts spa water high in iron, sulphur and salt. The former is a multi-purpose venue large enough to house huge conventions and business conferences. Many of the events are fan-based like the Lego-themed attractions and comic-cons. The latter is an outdoor venue that hosts even large events and shows, namely the agricultural Great Yorkshire Show.

Fancy a day of walking? Head to the Valley Gardens, home to a multitude of landscaped gardens that embrace different styles and influence. For further horticultural foray, head to the RHS Garden, Harlow Carr. The stunning gardens provide a leafy retreat where you can wander through woodland and alongside waterways.

The town centre is home to an array of boutique fashion shops, as well as high street favourites in and around the Victoria Shopping Centre.
