The cottage was spotlessly clean, in a lovely location and well situated for sight seeing and walking. While we were staying it was certainly quiet and private. Lovely location but with very steep drive and in close proximity to neighbouring cottage. This was empty while we were at Poachers Den but, if occupied, you would feel very overlooked - their barbecue and outside seating is right outside your sitting area and bedroom. Also headroom in bathroom is very restricted.

The cottage was lovely but if the property next door had been let at the same time to a party of 12 people I dont think we would have enjoyed it as much... next door is very close so there is not much privacy , so for that reason only we wouldnt book again.

The cottage is beautifully equipped, everything you could want. Remote though, and very close to a house which could have 12 people staying. The views from the property were excellent.

We stayed at the Poachers' Den from 21 to 28 December 2018, and we cannot recommend the more perfect little getaway for a couple over Christmas. We arrived after a long drive to see a big house and what looked to be a little outbuilding with festive lights. The directions took us to the little building, and once inside we were completely blown away.Read more For what appears to be a small building is the perfect little cottage. So much time and care and attention has been put into the fitting and design; the layout means that you do not feel cramped at all. The lounge area is really snug with the sofa opposite the fire, the dining area is well placed between the lounge and the kitchen to divide the space, and the kitchen for a small cottage is really spacious and excellently laid out. The finish was to an extremely high standard, and what made it even more special was the thought and care that had gone into the decoration for the Christmas season. The welcome hamper was spectacular and so thoughtful, and kept us going for a bit before we ventured out. There isn't that much close by, which is exactly why we chose it, but the big Booths at Ilkley was a 30 minute drive, and there are some excellent pubs a quick drive away too.The walking in the area is excellent; while we ventured out to the 3 Peaks area, walks after we arrived and on Christmas Day by the reservoir were so close that we didn't have to go far. Then returning to the cottage and putting on the log fire while making dinner was wonderful, and there were plenty of utensils and trays to make a full Christmas dinner for two as well.We could not recommend this cottage highly enough. We will certainly look at going back in the future. Hide

Poachers Den is a lovely cottage in a pretty, tranquil, rural location. Its very pleasantly furnished with good quality furnishings and spotlessly clean . We loved our stay there and the owner provided a wonderful arrival hamper which was much appreciated. The driveway, whilst steep, is now tarmackeRead mored, so is not a problem whatsoever. The kitchen is reasonably well stocked and the log fire makes for a cosy atmosphere. We recommend Poacher cottage and would certainly return. The only minor negatives for us were: 1. The decking / outdoor seating area is located under one of the several lime trees which surround the cottage. At this time of year, they constantly drip a sticky sap, rendering the patio furniture very sticky, so need a daily wash down. The same is true of your car if you park it under the trees! 2. The bed is very low so won't suit the less agile.

Response from Harrogate Holidays:

Hi Dianne, thank you for taking the time to send in your constructive feedback. It is very much appreciated. We have spoken to the owner who thanks you very much and to let you know they take all recommendations very seriously. The Sycamore tree is proving to be problematic with sap falling onto the decking and garden furniture so they are going to cut the branches back. The owners are now going to look at replacing the base of the bed so that it is higher and hope to welcome you back to Poachers Den in the future.Yorkshire has so much to offer so please come back soon.Take Care Marion Hide
