Thoughtfully converted former barn, offering spacious and well-maintained accommodation for five guests, located in a quiet farmland location in the North Yorkshire countryside.

A stylish single-storey barn conversion property, this cottage boasts a spacious interior with light-filled rooms and vaulted beamed ceilings. The quiet rural location is wonderfully peaceful and yet has excellent links to both Harrogate and Leeds, which can be easily reached by car or by train from Weeton village station, which is situated less than a mile from the cottage.

Make yourself at home in the lounge area of this cottage’s open-plan living area with its two comfortable sofas allowing guests to enjoy the TV/DVD. The contemporary kitchen area occupies one corner of the room next to which the dining area has doors leading out to a patio. Both bedrooms have been finished in a chic understated style, the first of which is a king-size room, whilst the other is a family room offering both a double and single bed. The bathroom is a spacious room which would not be out of place in a stylish hotel, and benefits from a deep freestanding bath as well as a separate shower.

This farm cottage may be surrounded by fields and rolling countryside, but it is in an excellent location for both Harrogate and Leeds, whether guests are visiting for business or pleasure. 6.5 miles to the north, Harrogate is awash with restaurants and tea rooms and also has several beautiful parks including the 200-acre Stray. Leeds, meanwhile, with its designer shops and vibrant nightlife, lies twelve miles to the south.

We found everything to be as was advertised. Newby Farm Cottage is a very tastefully converted and equipped barn. The location is peaceful and perfect for visiting places like Harrogate, York, Skipton, Ilkley, Knareborough, Fountain's Abbey and many other interesting locations. Only two points that could make the difference between a 4 and 5 star rRead moreating is that the Internet signal is a bit intermittent and phoning was only possible on a mobile phone outside the cottage. Although it was not a problem for us, it could be for someone else renting the cottage. The second point is more of a suggestion than a criticism; the sink in the kitchen was a butler's-type sink and needed a lot of water to have enough to wash anything in. A washing up bowl would have provided a more economical use of water. But I hasten to add there is a dishwasher and washing machine available for a lot of laundry or washing up. We had a problem with Sky TV while we were there and this was very swiftly and competently dealt with by the owners. Praise more than due to them for that. We forgot to sign and add our comments to the Visitors Book but would have said exactly what I have written above, if we had remembered to do so. We would thoroughly recommend Newby Farm Cottage to anyone who enjoys tasteful homely comfort, peaceful countryside, walking and interesting places to visit. Hide

Great house in a handy location between the Dales and Leeds. Good looking, spacious accommodation in a very peaceful lane.

Lovely spacious converted barn in a tranquil location. Very convenient for Harrogate. The description said there was a pub approximately a mile away, it was considerably more than this, but ok if you want a long walk.

Harrogate is a thriving, historic town at the heart of North Yorkshire and at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This fantastic town is a hit with culturists, historians and holidaymakers alike. Dubbed ‘The English Spa’ in 1596, the town boasts spa water high in iron, sulphur and salt. The Royal Pump Room is still open today as a museum, showcasing the original equipment that was used in its heyday. Two other major draws to the town are the Harrogate Convention Centre and the Great Yorkshire Showground. The former is a multi-purpose venue large enough to house huge conventions and business conferences. Many of the events are fan-based like the Lego-themed attractions and comic-cons. The latter is an outdoor venue that hosts even large events and shows, namely the agricultural Great Yorkshire Show.

Fancy a day of walking? Head to the Valley Gardens, home to a multitude of landscaped gardens that embrace different styles and influence. For further horticultural foray, head to the RHS Garden, Harlow Carr. The stunning gardens provide a leafy retreat where you can wander through woodland and alongside waterways.

The town centre is home to an array of boutique fashion shops, as well as high street favourites in and around the Victoria Shopping Centre. The Montpellier Quarter also offers exclusive shops and a huge range of antique dealers, ideal for hunting out a unique bargain. This fashionable spa town also plays host to many Michelin-starred restaurants too.
