This charming cottage is set in an idyllic location has been lovingly refurbished by the owner with contemporary interiors, the perfect location to explore the countryside, quaint market towns and nearby places of historical interest.

This charming two-bedroom cottage lies a half-hour drive north of Harrogate and its Convention Centre, some 20 miles away. For families seeking a true country getaway, far from the bustle of the town, this quaint brick property offers just that in the pretty village of Sandhutton. Overlooking the village green, the cottage has been sympathetically refurbished with contemporary interiors and those all-important home comforts, including on-street parking. You can also bring along your beloved dogs to enhance your stay.

The front door opens straight into the lounge, which is furnished with a sofa and armchairs. Curl up here in front of the wood burner (logs supplied) with a book, a board game, or your favourite show on the Smart TV. The kitchen/diner has all the usual main appliances including a dishwasher, washer/dryer, coffee machine and microwave, but if you're not in the mood to cook, just head to the local pub a few metres away for a delicious meal. There's also a delightful courtyard outside the cottage where you can dine alfresco. Back inside is a pretty king-size bedroom on the first floor, decorated in a traditional country cottage style with lots of storage and a TV. Across the hall is the twin bedroom, along with a stylish family bathroom with a shower over the bath.

The property lies 3 miles west of the small market town of Thirsk, home to the award-winning visitor attraction, World of James Herriot. Pack your walking boots too as the North York Moors National Park is 7 miles away. The historic spa town of Harrogate is great for business and pleasure, with the Convention Centre's exhibitions a major draw. Attractions include the Royal Pump Room, Betty's Tea Room, Royal Pump Room Museum and Valley Garden.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 king-size and 1 twin (hairdryer included)
  • 1 bathroom

  • Open fire (first basket of logs included from 1st October to 20th March)
  • Electric and central heating included

The nearest town is the traditional, Yorkshire market town of Thirsk (4 miles), famous for being the home of the famous Yorkshire vet, James Herriott. There is plenty of historical interest to explore here as well as a range of eateries serving up local dishes and ales. Another favourite with foodies is Helmsley (18 miles), which is the only market town in the North York Moors National Park. It has a selection of award-winning pubs and restaurants as well as its own brewery. You may also want to visit the Castle and Walled Gardens whilst you’re there. The vibrant cathedral city of Ripon is only 9.5 miles away and boasts a Thursday market, numerous coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and a nice collection of independent shops to explore. The cathedral is smaller than its close neighbour, York Minster (26.5 miles), but is still an awe-inspiring sight. In addition, every night for at least 450 years the Ripon Hornblower has sounded the curfew at 9pm from all four sides of the obelisk in the market place, come rain or shine, followed by a 15-minute history of the ceremony and the city – an experience not to be missed! If you are partial to a flutter, Ripon Race Ground has around 15 meets from April to early September. Known as 'Yorkshire's Garden Racecourse' it has a distinct atmosphere harking back to a bygone era – traditional tea rooms and bandstands sit alongside the champagne bar.

This area of Yorkshire has enough historical sites to keep you busy for a week with Norton Conyers (8.5 miles), Newby Hall (12.5 miles) and Ripley Castle (17 miles). You could also visit the lovely Fountains Abbey and the gorgeous Studley Royal Water Garden (13 miles) – this World Heritage site is deservedly one of the National Trust's most visited locations. As well as the spectacular ruins of a 12th-century Cistercian abbey, the grounds are home to an Elizabethan Mansion, a medieval deer park and some of the most romantic vistas in the country.

Harrogate (20.5 miles) is an absolute must-visit if you're staying here. Encircled by its famous Stray, or 200 acres, of horseshoe-shaped grassland, the Victorian spa town of Harrogate has a bright and breezy open-air feel and is characterised by its impressive floral displays. And as you would expect of such a bustling upbeat town, Harrogate boasts over 300 bars and restaurants together with all the shops, cinemas, parks and gardens you could ever wish for.

For those who want to get out and soak up some of Yorkshire’s natural beauty, the National Trust’s unique Brimham Rocks (19 miles) are dramatic, moorland rock formations where you can walk, cycle, climb or even partake in yoga.

We had a really great stay in Bluebell cottage, lovely location, really clean, the bed and bedding were soo comfortable! We went to the Jaipur Spice restaurant down the road and were really impressed, so keen to recommend - food was delicious. We visited the Swinton estate and Castle Howard - perfect location for both.

Harrogate is a thriving, historic town at the heart of North Yorkshire and at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This fantastic town is a hit with culturists, historians and holidaymakers alike. Dubbed ‘The English Spa’ in 1596, the town boasts spa water high in iron, sulphur and salt. The Royal Pump Room is still open today as a museum, showcasing the original equipment that was used in its heyday. Two other major draws to the town are the Harrogate Convention Centre and the Great Yorkshire Showground. The former is a multi-purpose venue large enough to house huge conventions and business conferences. Many of the events are fan-based like the Lego-themed attractions and comic-cons. The latter is an outdoor venue that hosts even large events and shows, namely the agricultural Great Yorkshire Show.

Fancy a day of walking? Head to the Valley Gardens, home to a multitude of landscaped gardens that embrace different styles and influence. For further horticultural foray, head to the RHS Garden, Harlow Carr. The stunning gardens provide a leafy retreat where you can wander through woodland and alongside waterways.

The town centre is home to an array of boutique fashion shops, as well as high street favourites in and around the Victoria Shopping Centre. The Montpellier Quarter also offers exclusive shops and a huge range of antique dealers, ideal for hunting out a unique bargain. This fashionable spa town also plays host to many Michelin-starred restaurants too.

There is a host of places to visit and spend time at in and around Harrogate. We have a selection of holiday homes that include chic apartments, elegant townhouses and cosy cottages for romantic stays to inspire your break in Harrogate. Why not visit our collection to find your perfect property?
