In addition to the large garden, there are miles of moorland and woodland walks right from the doorstep taking in some spectacular local scenery. This area is particularly well known for its reservoirs and you can see several from the headlands surrounding the house. The area is heaven for walkers who can explore the local estate and beyond without having to jump in the car. It's equally good for cycling enthusiasts, with miles of challenging road and off-road routes nearby.

And if you like to keep one foot on urban ground, head down into Ilkley (11.5 miles) for the day. Highly regarded for its stylish architecture and beautiful floral displays, there's plenty to see and do in this elegant Victorian town. Take a turn around the gardens down by the river, explore the many independent shops and boutiques, making sure you pick up something yummy for tea and the several up-market delis in town. Nearby Otley is also a charming Yorkshire town and Chevin Forest Park (7.4 miles) is a great place to blow off some steam.

Venture across to nearby Pateley Bridge (10 miles), a charming little market town very typical of this area of Yorkshire. The Main Street is peppered with cafes, restaurants, local stores, quality butchers and a fantastic wine shop - everything you need to stock up for your stay. You'll also find the self-proclaimed 'Oldest Sweet Shop in England' here dating back to the early 1800s - little has changed inside since then.

Property was amazing and location was perfect with breath taking views over the valley. We chose this property as it had a bedroom on the ground floor for our elderly parents. Harrogate is a thriving, historic town at the heart of North Yorkshire and at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This fantastic town is a hit with culturists, historians and holidaymakers alike. Dubbed ‘The English Spa’ in 1596, the town boasts spa water high in iron, sulphur and salt.
