Enjoying a lovely village location, this lovely holiday property is found just a few miles from the vibrant cathedral city of Ripon (4.5 miles) and less than half an hour’s drive to Harrogate (14 miles). It offers the peace and tranquillity of the Yorkshire Dales countryside with the delights of cosmopolitan towns within easy reach.

Close by there's the charming little town of Boroughbridge. Set on the banks of the River Ure, this handsome town was first settled in Roman times, and today offers some good options for eats as well as some lovely walks along the river. And if you're a bit of a foodie, there are several good restaurants in the wider area. Nearby Aldborough runs a fantastic festival every June/July with opera, piano and string quartets, a true delight if you enjoy classical music. This village is also home to two spectacularly well-preserved Roman footpaths.

This area of Yorkshire has enough historical sites to keep you busy weeks with Ripley Castle, Newby Hall and Norton Conyers all within a small radius. And of course, the world-famous Fountains Abbey and the adjoining Studley Royal Water Garden (3 miles) are both within easy striking distance. West of Ripon, this World Heritage Site is deservedly one of the National Trust's most visited locations. As well as the spectacular ruins of a 12th century Cistercian abbey, the grounds are home to an Elizabethan Mansion, a medieval deer park and some of the most romantic vistas in the country.

There's also Ripon Cathedral. Smaller than its close neighbour, York Minster, it is still an awe-inspiring sight. In addition, every night for at least 450 years, the Ripon Hornblower has sounded the curfew at 9.00pm from all four sides of the obelisk in the market place, come rain or shine, followed by a 15-minute history lesson about the ceremony and the city itself – it’s an unmissable experience. If you are partial to a flutter, Ripon Race Ground has around 15 meetings from April to early September. Known as 'Yorkshire's Garden Racecourse', it has a distinct atmosphere harking back to a bygone era where traditional tea-rooms and bandstands sit alongside the champagne bar.

Harrogate is an absolute must if you're staying here. Encircled by its famous 'Stray' or '1,000 acres' of horseshoe shaped grassland, the Victorian Spa town of Harrogate has a bright and breezy open-air feel and is characterised by its impressive floral displays. And as you would expect of such a bustling upbeat town, Harrogate boasts over 300 bars and restaurants together with all the shops, swimming pools, cinemas, parks and gardens you could ever wish for. And with York (22 miles) and the Yorkshire Dales close by, there are lots of options for day trips!

A really warm and cosy cottage in a village that, although has no pub, is within a short distance of many places to visit. The owner left a lovely hamper and flowers which was a nice welcoming touch and also decorated the cottage for Christmas for us. There is plenty of space and the bathroom is truly luxurious.

Amazing cottage in a peaceful village location but within easy reach of the Dale's and the Yorkshire moor areas, so plenty of places to both visit or explore. Also half hour drive and you can be either in Harrogate or York, both stunning places to visit. Nearest pub approx 3 mile away and nearest shop in Ripon approx 5 miles.

This was our first time in Yorkshire and we couldnt have chosen a better cottage. April cottage is very cosy and comfortable but very roomy as well. We stayed with our three miniature dachshunds and they loved the log fire and all the space to run around. The location is perfect to explore both the Yorkshire Dales and The North York Moors.

Beautiful spacious cottage with quality fixtures and fittings. We had a wonderful Christmas at the cottage, it was lovely and warm and very homely, well equipped, we cooked Christmas dinner for 4, would have been handy to have a few more plates, bowls and mugs as there is only 6 of each so we had to use the dishwasher after every meal. Beds were vRead moreery comfortable and lots of places to hang clothing. Location great for access to Ripon, Boroughbridge, Knaresborough etc. Great walks from the cottage, with plenty of fields to let the dog off his lead. The only thing negative comment on is the cleanliness of the cottage could have been a little better, I had to clean the oven and microwave and the downstairs toilet and shower could have been cleaner. I did mention the oven to the owner and she did say she would have come and cleaned if I had asked but I had already cleaned it. Also a better brush or a small hoover would have been useful to keep the cottage clean while we were there. This would not deter us from staying again as it was perfect location and cottage for us. Harrogate is a thriving, historic town at the heart of North Yorkshire and at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This fantastic town is a hit with culturists, historians and holidaymakers alike. Dubbed ‘The English Spa’ in 1596, the town boasts spa water high in iron, sulphur and salt. The Royal Pump Room is still open today as a museum, showcasing the original equipment that was used in its heyday. Two other major draws to the town are the Harrogate Convention Centre and the Great Yorkshire Showground. The former is a multi-purpose venue large enough to house huge conventions and business conferences. Many of the events are fan-based like the Lego-themed attractions and comic-cons. The latter is an outdoor venue that hosts even large events and shows, namely the agricultural Great Yorkshire Show.

Fancy a day of walking? Head to the Valley Gardens, home to a multitude of landscaped gardens that embrace different styles and influence. For further horticultural foray, head to the RHS Garden, Harlow Carr. The stunning gardens provide a leafy retreat where you can wander through woodland and alongside waterways.

The town centre is home to an array of boutique fashion shops, as well as high street favourites in and around the Victoria Shopping Centre. The Montpellier Quarter also offers exclusive shops and a huge range of antique dealers, ideal for hunting out a unique bargain. This fashionable spa town also plays host to many Michelin-starred restaurants too.

There is a host of places to visit and spend time at in and around Harrogate. We have a selection of holiday homes that include chic apartments, elegant townhouses and cosy cottages for romantic stays to inspire your break in Harrogate. Why not visit our collection to find your perfect property?
