A popular farming area, all our properties in the South Harrogate and Leeds area are delightful converted farm buildings. The Old Barn – is an excellent barn conversion completed to a high standard with superb eco friendly credentials. Alternatively, with stunning views of the Arthington Viaduct and the rolling Yorkshire countryside Wharfe View Cottage is superb farm cottage, with a downstairs bedroom and en-suite it is ideal for holiday in Yorkshire with the extended family or friends.

Pet friendly holidays and things to do

The cottages that we offer in this area a very pet friendly with glorious  walks from the door, all the properties are within easy walking distance of the magnificent Almscliffe Cragg. The pub in the next village of North Rigton, The Square & Compass pub, serves superb food throughout the day and welcomes muddy boots and dogs. For your local produce, we heartily recommend The Local Pantry, a farm shop just 5 minute drive away from most of the cottages, it serves fabulous coffee, breakfasts and lunches too!

Within an easy drive of these super holiday cottages are the historic towns of Ilkely and Skipton. The famous Ilkley moor is a tremendous place for a walk at any time of year but if you are visiting in summer, we’d encourage you to take a dip in the Lido, it’s unheated so not for the faint hearted but the children don’t seem to notice! Skipton also has much to offer with its vibrant market along the main street and historic castle. Half a day at the gorgeous Bolton Abbey could easily be combined with a trip to Skipton.

Leeds is an easy 25 minute drive away or hop onto the train at nearby Weeton Station. The city boasts some great museums and galleries including the Henry Moore Institute and Leeds City Art Gallery (For more Henry Moore – take a trip to The Yorkshire Sculpture Park). There are also some superb shopping opportunities. Head to the Trinity Centre for big brand covered shopping and The Victorian Quarter for more luxury boutiques, Leeds is also home to Harvey Nichols and a lovely brand new John Lewis! The options for the restaurants in Leeds are endless, a couple of our favourites are Friends of Ham and Zaap Thai Street Food!

Why choose South Harrogate and Leeds?

This is one of the most popular areas to take a self-catering holiday and it has a super standard of cottages, many are dog friendly and the location works perfectly as a base to explore all of Yorkshire. These properties as also well located for access to Leeds Bradford Airport, although we would recommend hiring a car to make the most of exploring Yorkshire. Sometimes called St Petersburg on a Yorkshire Hill - Harewood House is the home of the Earl and Countess of Harewood and houses painting, furniture and porcelain treasures in truly magnificent interiors surrounded by a Capability Brown designed landscape.
