Pets Come Too!

Pet Friendly Holidays

The British are a nation of dog lovers so they say!  Certainly at Harrogate Holidays we’re animal mad – with 14.5 animals between us (the .5 is a half share in a pony in case you were wondering!) and that’s not counting the 7 hens at home!

We know that a dog is man's best friend - but it can be difficult knowing what to do with your best friend when you go on holiday.  Luckily, more and more holiday let owners are happy for guests to bring their pets with them.   At Harrogate Holidays we have many self-catering properties of all shapes and sizes which are perfect for bringing your pets on holiday.

“Walkies”

North Yorkshire has some spectacular walking countryside.   Almscliffe Cragg near our office is a particular favourite for us. The Harrogate Ringway  is a glorious path encircling the town taking in the market town of Knaresborough (with many dog friendly pubs see below), past the world famous RHS Gardens Harlow Carr (peer over the fence) and a bit of scramble down Birk Crag which our dogs love.

“Foodies”

But what about finding dog friendly places to eat so that you don't need to leave them behind or in the car?Fear not - we have done our homework and found a number of great places to eat and drink in and around Harrogate where your four legged friend is also welcome!

The Square & Compass at North Rigton - recently completely refurbished and contemporarily styled,  offering a great menu - a favourite with us!  Close to lovely walks around Huby, Almscliffe Cragg and the Washburn Valley.

The Sportsman's Arms - managed by the same family for 30 years with a long established local reputation for offering high quality food and wine set in a stunning location in Upper Nidderdale.

The Wellington in Darley - affectionately known as "The Welly" and a firm favourite with the locals - in picturesque Lower Nidderdale (a short drive out of Harrogate) and on the route of the Nidderdale Way.

And in Harrogate town - Filmore and Union - a very popular Deli and Cafe serving "energising breakfasts, inspirational lunches and nourishing suppers" welcomes well behaved dogs and their owners!

Knaresborough seems to be especially dog friendly – we understand that all the following allow well behaved dogs (but you might want to ring in advance to check!)  -  Blind Jack's, the Old Royal Oak, Castle Vaults, Cross Keys, the Groves, the Mitre, Carriages Wine Bar, the Borough Bailiff and the the World's End
