Spas in Harrogate

Kate Atkin 10 September 2018

Fluffy robes, relaxing treatments, refreshing pools, the sweet smell of aromatherapy oils; a day at the spa is the perfect way to treat yourself. With its health-giving natural springs, Harrogate has a rich tradition of spa and restorative treatments dating back over 200 years. Known as ‘the English spa’, it is an ideal holiday destination in the UK for those seeking to unwind in an oasis of calm and well-being in an otherwise hectic lifestyle.

If you’re longing to restore some balance, indulge your senses with a spa day in Harrogate. From Victorian Baths to thoroughly 21st century spa experiences, we have chosen a few of our favourite spas in Harrogate to suit every need.

Rudding Park Spa

Prepare to be impressed at this world-class spa where tranquillity and relaxation reign in spectacular settings on the Rudding Park Estate. Using natural waters from the estate’s grounds, you can look forward to a range of thermotherapy and hydrotherapy experiences, as well as rejuvenating treatments, a juniper log sauna, bucket shower, hair studio, pedicure and make-up bar and the UK’s first rooftop spa garden with infinity pool.

Couples searching for a romantic spa break can escape to the luxurious VIP room complete with copper bath and indulge in a 25-minute Bath Ritual followed by a nourishing treatment - perhaps a rosebud infused facial to brighten and tighten the skin - while small groups of friends can enjoy the Mud Rasal Ritual – a traditional Moorish mud experience. End your Harrogate spa break perfectly with some delicious cuisine in the park’s stylish Horto restaurant where you can sample the likes of Yorkshire wagyu with pickled girolle and truffle, or halibut with a caviar veloute.

Harrogate Turkish Baths

Starting at the eucalyptus-infused sauna, visitors to these beautifully restored Victorian Turkish Baths follow a ritual of heating, cooling and cleansing, moving through three hot room chambers, each becoming increasingly warmer, before cooling down in the plunge pool. This invigorating experience can be complemented with a range of blissful treatments including a full body exfoliation, massages with sweet almond or grapeseed oil, and bespoke facials.

Having been around for 120 years, the Turkish Baths in Harrogate is one of only seven Victorian spas left in the UK. As you begin to unwind and steam yourself into serenity, marvel at the magnificent Moorish interiors featuring vaults and arches that soar to a high arabesque ceiling ornately decorated with a colourful stencilled design. Vibrant glazed brickwork combined with elaborately assembled mosaic and marble terrazzo floors complete this unique and flamboyant setting.
