Harrogate's Spring & Autumn Flower Shows

A Guide to The Harrogate Spring and Autumn Flower Shows!

You don’t have to be green fingered to love visiting Harrogate Flower Show!  Not only the biggest and best in Yorkshire, but among the top 2 horticultural events in the UK – the Spring Show was voted Britain’s top gardening event by readers of Which Magazine! Located at The Great Yorkshire Show Ground which is just a mile from the centre of Harrogate and an easy drive from Knaresborough.

One of Yorkshire’s most beautiful shows

The two events beautifully top and tail the gardening year.  The Spring Flower Show attracts over 60,000 visitors each year in April – perfectly timed for inspiring us to get busy as the garden comes alive for the summer.  Harrogate’s Autumn Flower Show in September attracts upwards of 40,000 people and is the perfect showcase for the season of mellow fruitfulness!

Organised by the North of England Horticultural Society since 1911 and located at the Great Yorkshire Showground since moving there from the town’s Valley Gardens in 1997, the shows have been deservedly dubbed the “Chelsea of the North”.

Gorgeous show gardens & fresh local produce

Medal winning blooms and produce are only a small part of this fantastic event: expect to see the country’s finest floral artists going head to head in competition, show gardens to take your breath away and the Feast – a Food Theatre demonstrating how to get crafty in the kitchen with seasonal produce.  Enjoy a shopping extravaganza with unique crafts, gifts and artisan produced food and drink stalls, whilst the Plant Pavilion offers the very best plants and garden products from 100 of the country’s leading nurseries.

And there’s plenty to keep the youngest members of the family entertained with lots of crafty "hands on" fun throughout the day.

Perfect accommodation for a holiday in Harrogate

Why not make a weekend of it whilst you’re here and enjoy our garden town?  The 200 acre Stray Park, protected by Royal Charter, extends through and around Harrogate, whilst the Valley Gardens have developed from walks by fashionable visitors taking the Spa waters into the glorious gardens they are today.
